(More customer reviews)I REALLY like this hoop a lot. I have it in 4" and 7" sizes. I'm embroidering silk, so it's import for there not to be anything for the fabric or thread to catch on. The plastic is smooth, with no rough plastic seams. I really like the covered screw for tightening, it's easy to use and never gets in the way of my thread.
The ONLY reason I docked a star is probably my fault. When I removed one of my pieces of silk, the threads in the fabric had puled and separated. I'm learning that there are other techniques to use when placing the fabric in the hoop, that keep the fabric taut, but avoid this kind of wear (like wrapping the two hoops in strips of cotton, or winding masking tape around both hoops, or using tissue paper between the fabric and the hoop).
I've been generally pleased with embroidery tools from Clover.
