(More customer reviews)As soon as I put this frame together I knew I'd eventually have trouble with it. The bottom portion is solid...it's nice and adjusts fine. The problem is the hoop portion. The hoop itself is kind of flimsy wood and the metal piece used to attach the hoop to the bottom frame is held to the hoop with weak little grommets. The hoop, therefore was prone to jiggling on the stand, and each time I'd loosen the wing nut to adjust the tilt or angle of the hoop, the grommets would give ever so slightly more and it would jiggle even more. I was not hard on the frame at all but prior to even completing my first project the grommets pulled completely out of the hoop and the wood split and cracked as a result. Any hands-free frame needs to be made in a manner that allows the user to adjust it frequently (think working lots of scrolling stem stitches) and unfortunately this one is not made to withstand that. In lieu of ordering a replacement hoop with another wobbly grommet, I opted to try another brand. Highly recommend the Sonata Seat Frame by Siesta Frames (not the Elbesee stand). It's made in the UK, but even with shipping my total cost was not much more than buying this one, and it's built very solidly and made to move in every direction. Not to mention it has a clamp, therefore you can use your own hoop frame in it. Don't waste your money on the Lacis frame.
