(More customer reviews)A great applique shape for the dog lover. The Accuquilt die cuts the doggy shape and an ear shape using the same die. As shown in the picture the ear can be cut from a different fabric if you wish. Instead of using fusible backing for the ear, I sew it on at the top only so it will hang loose like a real dog's ear, a fun effect. I also have the AccuQuilt GO! Baby Fabric Cutting Dies; Calico Cat and enjoy putting both the Gingham dog and Calico Cat shapes on a quilt.
Both shapes fit easily onto a 6" square and can be attached to the quilt like any other applique shape. I usually cut a piece of fabric and fusible web or backing about 6"x6", furse them together then let them cool so the adhesive sets. After 15 or 20 minutes I place the piece on my accuquilt die and run it through the cutter so that the fabric and backing are cut perfectly together. Once done, remove the paper and fuse the piece to the quilt. What could be easier?
At the present time, I have about 15 Accuquilt dies and am pleased with all of them for the ease and accuracy. As I've said in other reviews, the Accuquilt system is great for those with arthritis, for those who don't like cutting quilt pieces, or those who just want to finish quickly with perfectly cut pieces every time.
