(More customer reviews)I haven't done cross-stitch in years and decided I would start stitching again. Saw this kit and thought this would be perfect! I am very disappointed with this product because I had to sort the threads into their own little groups, (blues, greens, pinks, etc)without any kind of numbers on threads. Can you tell me how to separate 5 different colors of pink and know for sure that you are using the correct color. It was exhausting separating the colors and trying to figure out what was what. Never again!!! Would have been nice to know this beforehand, that the colors aren't marked for identification.

American and Efird Maxilock Cone Thread (3000 Yards) Review

(More customer reviews)Maxi-lock thread is a good quality thread and is cost effective. I don't have the serger sewing machine, yet I find it very useful for my quilting, embroidery, and sewing needs.
I use it in two way:
(1) I use it as a top thread using thread cone holder.
(2) I use it as a bottom bobbin thread. To wind it I use thread cone holder.
For general sewing I use Maxi Lock in top and bottom of my sewing machine. For embroidery and quilting I use Sulky thread as the top thread, and Maxi Lock thread as the bottom thread.
I am able to find tension on my sewing machine, which allows me to use Sulky thread as the top thread and maxi-lock thread as the bottom thread. I do this by setting the top tension to zero, and making small adjustments to the bobbin tension. This works particularly well when the bottom thread is close in color to the top thread. Maxi Lock has a huge variety of colors available. I have a large selection of bobbins with different Maxi Lock colors sitting ready to go to match whatever my top thread happens to be.
Using these large cones saves me a lot of money. They are so much more economical than the small spools, especially the wonderful (but expensive) Sulky threads.
I noticed that the price on the on this product fluctuates. With a good sale I can find this thread at around $2 a spool. There is a nice online tool that I use to help catch a good price on Amazon, this tool is called "Online Price Alert". This tool will send you an email when the Amazon item price reaches the target price range that you specify. If you search on "online price alert" in Google it will be come up at the top. I find this tool to be very helpful.

I was dissapointed because I really didnt read that this was counted cross stitch, the canvas is completely blank obviously verses stamped cross stitch, I was a little intimidated, hesitant to start, almost sent it back, but now I'm glad I didn't, with a little patience my work looks beautiful. I would recommend this to any one but only if you are really into counted cross stitch or want to be adventurous and start something new.....

Simplicity 2-1/2-Inch Quilt Binding Bias Tip Review

(More customer reviews)I really like my Siplicity Bias Tape Machine, but the 2 1/2 " quilt binding tip is a waste of money. I had expected that it was going to make 2 1/2 " bias tape for quilt borders, but it does not. All it does is to take a 2 1/2 " strip, and fold it in half. It is difficult to load the fabric into the tip, so just folding the strip in half and using a standard iron would be way easier. Do not waste your money on this tip. If you are thinking about buying a Bias Tape Machine with the idea of using it for 2 1/2 " borders, you will be disappointed.

(More customer reviews)I guess you get what you pay for, but I was expecting something of somewhat decent quality, I mean, this is just needles and thread here. I don't see why I should have to spend even $10 to get something that isn't total garbage. First, the box itself is useless. You can never get the pieces back into the box the way it arrived, and the box broke upon opening it. The thimble is a joke - a silly plastic thing. The "pin cushion" is a cheap spongey thing, like the kind of stuff you might get as cushioning in an electronics box. The thread is eh. The needles, ugh, here is the worst. They all broke! Mid-sew! I'm not a super powerhouse with the sewing needle; it's not like I'm thrusting away wildly getting that button sewn on. I have never had a needle snap in half mid-stitch! Please don't waste your money on this.
