Bucilla is known for these kits and they shouldn't be penalized because the website didn't clarify this. I have over 50 of these lovely creations and consider them heirlooms to be handed down and treasured for generations to come. They certainly take time, but that's sort of the point... Within the "crafter's world" these kits are known for their excellent quality, clear instructions, washability (no dry cleaning required) and lasting bright vibrant colors. And no, I don't work for the company... :)

(More customer reviews)This is a really cute cross stitch. I am halfway finished and am really enjoying it. It is turning out really well, yet the fabric is so large that there are little gaps between each of the stitches. Hopefully by the time I am done it will look more solid. My only complaint so far is that there is not thread sorter with this kit. Being that it was a kit I assumed it would come with a thread sorter. Not a huge deal, but a slight inconvenience as I then had to go find a store that sold them. It is a very nice pattern though and I look forward to finishing it!

I am writing this review with the purpose of letting the buyer know that there is no thread sorter included in this kit. (Just a little fact I wish I had known ahead of time.) Also note that Joann Fabrics takes an extremely long time to ship, and the product took 2 weeks to get to my house, which was 2 days over the latest arrival date. Other than that, the products arrived in great condition!

Dimensions Counted Cross Stitch For Dummies Hummingbird Floral Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this one and another kit from the store the other day; I decided to do this one first since it was the simplest one.
My cross stitch background: my aunt embroiders, thankfully, and she guided me through a stamped cross stitch when I was little. I chose to do this one on my own.
However, I found first of all that the needle was missing; thank goodness I bought a second kit, otherwise I would have had to go and get a new needle. The instructions were okay for the most part; they show you all of the stitches, but their version of doing the french knot is not very good - I had my aunt show me how to do that. In addition, the charcoal thread kept breaking on me while I was backstitching the outline, so I didn't have enough to finish the french knots.
Overall it's decent enough for beginners, but probably a good idea to have someone on hand who knows how to embroider or do similar needlecraft on hand. Comparing this to other cross stitch kits for beginners, I'd say this one is roughly average at best - but at least it's cheap.

I give them away as gifts, people love getting something made with love and have a vintage feel (like grandma made). Also, the cases are a pretty good quality. I was surprised to find them at such a bargain, as I've paid up to $15 for a set in the past.
Their easy for any level of crafter too! The directions included are very simple to follow. You do have to buy the thread, and embroidery hoop. Not a big deal to me.
